It's full of holes

Because of the new sewer system in town, the entire length of Commercial Street was dug up and then haphazardly patched up so it could be driven on again.

Thing is, the entire length of Commercial Street needs to be totally repaved from bottom to top.

The also-other-thing is the town doesn't have the money and/or the will to get the job done.

What's the solution? Who the hell knows?

How about we just let Commercial Street rot like everything else in the town? It shouldn't matter anyway. Nobody actually lives here anymore. Seems 2/3 of the town is empty. The millionaires only show up to check in on their properties once in a while. What should they care as long as their taxes don't keep going up and the Jamaicans are able to work here to serve them where they come to stay this Summer.

The monument is red though. That should make everyone feel better!

And go play in the kitty-litter!

While I'm at it, let's talk about the two public playgrounds in town, shall we?

I'm 44 now. The playgrounds have remained basically the same since I was a kid.

Yes, there's a bit of new, modernized playground equipment.

The stuff the actual playground in put on, however, is another matter.

I couldn't tell you how many times I took my kids to either site only to have to rush them home for a bath to rid them of the disgusting filth the sand has left behind.

Sand? Yep. Not that great, modern, rubbery stuff you see on playgrounds in the city. Nor the packed-dirt and woodchip surface you see on the playgrounds in Truro, Wellfleet, and many hundreds of other playgrounds in the area.

Sand.

I've seen dog crap, found cat crap, broken glass, and seen literally hundreds of cigarette butts all over the place. The sand is dirty. Dusty. I'm not sure how often it's changed (if ever) and I'm also not sure how often it's cleaned and/or maintained.
There is no shady place to sit in the hot Summer sun. Barely a tree.

There is a "No Dogs Allowed" sign on the gates but rarely have I seen the gates closed. I've often seen locals just ignore them anyway and just bring their dogs in anyway.

Once again, another sign of the times in Provincetown. There's plenty of big talk about trying to keep families in town but not much in the way of persuasion.

Go play in the toilet!!

Been to Motta field lately?

Go ahead. Take a walk up the hill and on to the field.

You notice something? Look down. Yea. Every single square foot of Motta Field is covered with goose shit.

The town can talk about saving the precious school. About how the fabric of the town will be changed forever if the school closes. About the difficulties of shipping the students to Nauset every day.

Thing is, you only have to take a walk out to Motta Field to see how precious the kids of Provincetown are treated.

Like the shit the field is covered with.

It should be plowed under and condemned. The state should come down and wrap yellow tape around the field as a health hazard. Spring will be upon us soon and with it kids will want a place to play baseball, softball, and other outdoor activities.
They should not be allowed on that field. Would you let YOUR kids open up an un-flushed toilet and play with the feces? I thought not.
Why then would you let your kid play on that field? A nice sliding catch of a ball and you're smeared. Better keep loads of Purell on hand.

Sure, cut back on teachers. Cut back on administration. Let the facilities go to  (literally) shit.

Just please stop saying how it's all so integral to the fabric of the town when you let it get to the state that it's in.
